Website Financing Pt 3

Virtual Business...

Exist only in the bytes of data stored on a web server and act as the sole storefront, customer relations, and contact area for a business. Virtual businesses are attractive in that they can be run from a home office (as this website is) and appear to have significantly lower start-up costs than a brick-n-mortar shop. However, virtual businesses often require the same amount of funds and incur as much risk as any new business operation.

When building a virtual web business, it's helpful to plan for it just like you would opening a new office. You'll need office space rental, a business name and address, office decoration, general office maintenance, product samples and an advertising budget to let customers know how to reach you.

Financing can be tricky given the novel business world of the net. The best methods of building and running s successful e-business are constantly changing. To begin with, you'll need a small amount of seed money of anywhere from a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars. Seed money allows you to explore the possibility of your store, maybe try a small test site, and fine tune your e-business method. That's when the real work begins.

You may find, for tax purposes, incorporating your e-business and protecting yourself from all business debts is a wise idea. If you think you've found the right method of success and need additional funding, that's where you can start your search for capital. Capital can come from a small business loan, friendly investor, investment from a partner supplier or parent company, or for the very cash-hungry companies a venture capitalist. To begin seeking financing, you will need to complete a detailed Business Plan working out all the details of your venture from your audience, to supply, to all the design and other site expenses incurred.
